1st Annual Middlecott Sketch Battle

Fri 09/21 07:00 PM - Sat 09/22 12:00 AM

Middlecott Design, Studio 2100
Penobscot Building, 645 Griswold, Detroit, MI

The 1st Annual Middlecott Sketchbattle Detroit 2012 is a design studio launch party and a friendly sketching competition. While contestants battle it out using their creative skills, a mixer will commence where we mingle, socialize and basically get our funk on.

Spectators and guests can participate by watching the action unfold live and by choosing their favorite sketches at the end of each heat. In the meantime live music will be brought to us by the right honorable DJ Reverend Robert David Jones and DJ Gutter Trash Evan.

The competition:

12 chosen creatives such as designers and illustrators will come together in the competition using pencils, markers or their laptop to quickly formulate ideas.

Due to the high volume of people interested in competing at the Sketchbattle and our limited studio space we can only allow 12 people to compete. To qualify post a sketch done by you in 1 hour to our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/middlecottdesign .

The Sketchbattle will be broken into 2 heats of exactly one hour each. The heats will have different briefs made up of adjectives set by the judges and organizers. Their will be music specifically catered for the moods of each heat.

Winners of each heat will be selected by the audience and our panel of esteemed judges. Guests will be given ballot cards to make their choice.

The contestant’s work will be posted on boards for guests to review and pick their favorite. We will have a 45 minute break between heats to make selections.

Schedule:
1st heat: 7:00PM - 8PM with 12 contestants
2nd heat: 9:00PM - 10PM with 3 contestants
Final winner will be announced at 10:30PM

Participants must bring their own materials and equipment and arrange for their own travel to partake in the contest.
