Storied will be an installation of mixed media work centered around the idea of story telling and what it means to tell a good story: the history, the authenticity, the narrative. Whether it be in paintings, sculpture, or words, a story has the ability to move an individual, even a large group, to realize empathy with the story teller. The installation is meant to activate the space, and an audience--young, old, diverse--while fostering culture, collaboration, and community in this once-forgotten space.
Storied: An Installation is running along side the Detroit Stories Screening [An initiative of the Detroit Works Project: Long Term Planning] taking place on Saturday [9/22] evening in the park. Playing off the theme of oral histories, the LSAP installation will feature works by Detroit artists in various media and center on Detroit's rich history of storytelling in all its forms.

A casual artist meet and greet will be held on Friday evening, 9/21, from 6 to 8pm. Come by and say "hey" and tell us YOUR story! The installation will also feature a small pop-up library and book exchange. Feel free to take a book--they're yours--keep it or bring it back! Come sit a spell, share...read...discover.
